Guide

Block TikTok on Wi-Fi, for every device of the home

Blocking TikTok app by app means doing it again on each phone, tablet and computer, and again after each reset. Warda blocks it once, at the network: every device on the home Wi-Fi gets the same answer, whatever the app or the browser.

What Warda does

Social networks blocked at the network, not phone by phone

TikTok and the other services

TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X, Facebook, Threads, BeReal, Pinterest, Reddit and more: each service is a list of names kept by Warda, its app and its site included, blocked in one click.

For one child or the whole house

Block a service for the whole network, a profile, a person or a single device: TikTok can stay closed on the tablet of a ten-year-old and open for the adults.

The social networks category

Rather than service by service, the social networks category closes them all for a profile. By default it is watched for children and allowed for teenagers: you decide.

Three steps

Block social media on the router in three steps

Warda answers the DNS requests of the whole home. Once TikTok is blocked for a device, its app and its site no longer reach their servers from that device, whatever the browser or the account.

  1. 1

Install Warda on a small box at home and give its address to your router: every device of the Wi-Fi then asks Warda.

  2. 2

Create a card for each child and give them their devices: the profile follows their age.

  3. 3

In the services, block TikTok — or Instagram, Snapchat, the whole social networks category — for the profile, the child or one device. An app already open may need to be restarted.

Beyond blocking

Less TikTok rather than none

A wall is not the only answer. With the subscription, social networks can get a time instead of a block.

All the family featuresComparison

  • Free: TikTok and the other named services blocked for the network, a profile, a person or a device; the social networks category blocked for a profile.
  • With the subscription: a time a day for social networks, games and videos, and a homework mode that closes them during homework.
  • With the subscription: hours of Internet by quarter of an hour; a child can ask for more time, granted in one click.
  • With the subscription: an alert to the parents when a child tries to go around the block with a VPN, a proxy or an encrypted DNS.

What blocking TikTok on Wi-Fi does not do

A DNS filter blocks a service as a whole, on the devices that use the network of the home.

  • On mobile data or another Wi-Fi, the phone no longer goes through the box, unless it is protected outside the home (subscription).
  • It blocks the whole service, never one video, one account or one challenge.
  • A VPN can go around it: the known ones are blocked for children and teenagers, and the subscription tells the parents.
  • The settings of the phone itself (Family Link, Screen Time) and the age limits of each network still matter.

Questions

Does blocking TikTok on Wi-Fi need an app on the phone?

No. Warda answers the DNS requests of the home: the phone, the tablet and the computer of the child are covered as soon as they use the Wi-Fi, without any app.

Can TikTok stay open for the adults?

Yes. Block it for a profile (children, teenagers), for one person or for one device; the others keep it.

Which social networks can be blocked?

TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Threads, X, BeReal, Pinterest, Reddit, Tumblr and LinkedIn are named services; messaging (WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram…), video and game services can be blocked the same way.

Is blocking TikTok free?

Yes: named services and categories are in the free plan. The time a day, the homework mode and the alerts on bypasses come with the subscription: 2 € a month or 20 € a year, offered to every tester until subscriptions open.
