Profiles by age
One card per person, with their devices. Children become teenagers at 15 and adults at 18, automatically, and the protections follow.
Parental control
Warda filters the names asked by every device of the home — phones, tablets, computers, game consoles, smart TV — from one box plugged into your router. Nothing to install on the children's devices: the rules follow the age of each person, and the parental control is in the free plan.
What Warda does
One card per person, with their devices. Children become teenagers at 15 and adults at 18, automatically, and the protections follow.
Safe search forced on the main search engines and on YouTube; adult content, gambling and social networks blocked for a profile; named services blocked for a profile, a person or a single device.
Advertising and tracking are blocked for everyone, but adults are never watched: their detailed reports need their own agreement.
Three steps
Every site, app or game starts by asking for a name (DNS). Warda answers these requests for the whole network: a name blocked for the profile of a child does not open, on any of their devices.
Install Warda on a small box at home: a Raspberry Pi, a machine that runs Docker or a Debian server.
Create a card for each person and give them their devices: the profile follows their age.
Switch on the protections you want for each profile: advertising, trackers, malware and phishing are already blocked by the built-in list.
For parents
Profiles, categories and safe search are in the free plan. The subscription adds the hours of Internet, the time a day and the alerts.
Need by need
Free
Adult content, gambling and hate sites are blocked for children and teenagers from the start, violence and drugs too for children. No setting to look for in each browser, and no need to block porn on the router yourself: the box does it for the whole network.
Free
SafeSearch is forced on Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Yandex, and YouTube's restricted mode is on, for every profile by default; an administrator can turn them off for a profile. Nothing to set on each account.
Free
TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, X and the other named services are blocked in one click, for the whole network, a profile, a person or a single device; the social networks category closes them all for a profile.
Subscription
Each child gets hours of Internet by quarter of an hour: the Internet cut at night and during homework, wider hours in the school holidays, a time a day for games, videos and social networks; a child can ask for 15, 30 or 60 more minutes, granted in one click.
Free
Game consoles, smart TVs, tablets, computers and phones on the home Wi-Fi all ask the network for names: they all go through Warda, even those where no app can be installed. A device shared by several people follows the most protective profile of those who use it.
Free
The known VPN, proxy and encrypted DNS services are blocked for children and teenagers in the free plan; the subscription tells the parents. The shared connection of a phone is harder to close: what Warda sees, and what it does not.
When a child bypasses parental controls: VPN, proxy, hotspot
A filter at the DNS level sees the names asked, not the pages. Here is what it does not do.
No. Warda runs on a box of the home and answers the DNS requests of every device of the network: phones, tablets, computers, game consoles, television. Your router hands its address to the network.
Profiles by age, safe search, categories, named services and the pause are in the free plan. The hours of Internet, the time a day, the detection of bypasses and the detailed reports come with the subscription: 2 € a month or 20 € a year, offered to every tester until subscriptions open.
Some try, with a VPN, a proxy, another DNS server or the hotspot of a phone. Warda blocks the known VPN, proxy and encrypted DNS services for children and teenagers, in the free plan; with the subscription, it alerts the parents, a phone protected outside the home stays filtered on mobile data, and Warda says when another device probably uses its shared connection — a likelihood, not a certainty.
No. Advertising and tracking are blocked for them as for everyone, but their detailed reports need their own agreement; without it, they count in the totals and the names they visit stay private.
A Raspberry Pi 4 or later, a machine that runs Docker (amd64 or arm64), or a Debian or Ubuntu server.
The parental control is in the free plan of Warda; the subscription is offered to every tester until subscriptions open.
